Night turns to day; day turns to night. On September 21, both were equal. The fall equinox also marks the beginning of fall, the end of summer. Participants of our site- and community-based recreational and social programs partook in activities that marked this change and new beginning.
Weekend Recreation
Young adults in Passaic and Essex counties gathered at the Totowa Public Library for a morning and afternoon of fun with Weekend Recreation. First, they created a fall-themed collage with felt cutouts. Some people added stickers; others embellished their work with painted colors and designs.
Next, everyone played BINGO. They participants matched fall-themed pictures. However, it wasn’t as easy as it may seem! They had to distinguish between a single smiling sunflowers and a small bouquet, for example.
After BINGO, The group chose between making a card and a beaded piece of jewelry. In addition, everyone was on hand to celebrate September birthdays!
Parents’ Night Out
September 21 was a crisp Friday night, a harbinger for the onset of fall. Children and teens of our Parents’ Night Out program took turns chopping apples, which were cooked on site to make a delicious desert. Some of the children enjoyed a walk outside, while others played games and listened to music.
