In anticipation of Father’s Day, our Weekend Recreation consumers were busy making picture frames and medallions. And, yes, mothers were recognized as well, as they should be! “It was good,” said Chris. “I really liked the painting.” Similar sentiments were echoed by Shivonne and Shayne, two other participants.
The creative crafts were the brainchild of Stefany Abreu, one of the Community Support Specialists on staff. Stefany also works at a preschool, where she creates craft projects regularly. The arts and crafts projects at the Totowa Public Library and Arts & Creations Pottery Studio are here favorite places to work. “I get to talk to [the participants] and get to know them better,” she says. The Weekend Recreation participants feel likewise. Granted, some of the messages affixed to the pieces were pre-printed. The sentiments, however, are entirely home grown.
After the crafts, the participants enjoyed a round of Bingo. Cathy P. helped Danica Wallace, Weekend Recreation Coordinator in calling out the numbers. Afterward, she enjoyed time with one of her friends, C.J., and the two were happy to pose for the camera!
We wish all the fathers, grandfathers, and uncles of our consumers—and everyone else out there—a very happy Father’s Day!
