Advancing Opportunities is seeking students to serve on a Student Advisory Board (SAB) and offer their perspective. The agency recently launched a Student Success Center to increase the number of students with disabilities who complete postsecondary programs. The agency will consider SAB input when designing future programs and services.
We are seeking college students who are leaders and either have a disability or have close experience with disability. SAB members will meet digitally and/or in-person to discuss a variety of topics that affect all college students; such as self-advocacy, disclosure, leadership skills, seeking accommodations, goal planning, assistive technology, etc.
Students should be over 18 years of age, able to demonstrate leadership and teamwork skills, and have an interest in helping others succeed. Board members must be able to provide their own transportation or have means to connect to meetings digitally. If you’re interested or know someone who would be a good fit, please reach out to Momin Rafi at mrafi@advopps.org or Jordan Westwood at west.jordan10@gmail.com.
