Morristown, NJ – Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has donated $10,000 to provide holiday lighting and help install smart home technology at Advancing Opportunities, Inc.’s new group home in Jackson, New Jersey.
Advancing Opportunities is a leader both in assistive technology services and residential programs, using smart home technology to make its group homes safer and more autonomous spaces for their residents.
In addition to providing LED holiday lights, JCP&L’s donation helps install other high-tech devices, including power door openers activated by wall-mounted buttons and wireless remotes, electronically monitored water temperature controls for safety in the kitchen and bath, and motion sensors located in doors, windows and on beds that help staff identify residents that could need of assistance.
“Supporting Advancing Opportunities’ new group home is another example of JCP&L and its employees making the communities we serve better places to live, especially for those less fortunate than others,” said Jim Fakult, president of JCP&L. “We are proud to support the new Advancing Opportunities group home in Jackson and hope the technology being installed helps residents cope with their disabilities and achieve greater participation and independence.”
