Thank You for a Wonderful Evening!

Advancing Opportunities would like to thank everyone who made its Annual Spring Gala on Saturday, April 26, 2014, such an amazing and successful evening. We invite you to visit our Flickr account here to see pictures from the event.

The agency honored Dan Molloie with its Elizabeth M. Boggs Award for Advocacy. Dan has been active in securing and protecting rights for people with disabilities for many years. He began championing for himself as a student at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ in the 90s. He has served as the Chairman of the Statewide Personal Assistant Services Program Advisory Council since 1997. He is also very active as an advocate and volunteer in his South Jersey community.

The agency recognized Hopewell Valley Community Bank with its Corporate Citizenship Award. HVCB has generously and consistently supported the agency with donations and sponsorships since it opened its doors 15 years ago. Advancing Opportunities is one of many non-profit organizations and civic groups whose mission has been boosted with gifts from Hopewell Valley Community Bank. Chairman Pat Ryan and President/CEO Jim Hyman were on hand to accept the award.

Kevin Luecht, a young singer-songwriter, was honored with the Andrew J. Murphy Award. This award is presented each year to a person the agency has provided services to. Kevin and his family worked with advocate Justin Allsopp to secure an out-of-district placement at a school uniquely suited to educate Kevin. He attended Berkshire Hills Music Academy in South Hadley, MA, and received specialized education in music, vocalization and independent living skills. Today, Kevin lives in his own apartment, writes and performs his songs and volunteers in the community. Kevin treated the guests at the Gala to a special performance.

The event was possible because of the generosity of the following Sponsors: Platinum Sponsor The Spano Family Charitable Foundation, Inc.; Ruby Sponsors Hill, Barth & King LLC, Pennington Quality Market, StemCyte, Thomas Edison State College; and Sapphire Sponsor PSE&G.
